Half-Naked Woman Arrested After Running On South Carolina Airport Runway

Everyone has their own sense of style when traveling. There are the travelers that want to make a statement with over-the-top outfits, and then you have those that are simple. Jeans and a nice top is sufficient. Then some passengers just want to let it all hang out.

A woman forced Florence Regional Airport to shut down for two hours last Sunday after she was seen running towards an aircraft wearing nothing but her underwear. The woman was first spotted running on an active runway of the South Carolina airport and then ducked into a wooded area near the end of the property.  “We were informed by the witness/caller that a female, which was unclothed, gained access to Airport property and was last seen traveling south on airport property within the fenced area,” a statement from the airport said.

The local sheriff’s office was called into to assist with the bizarre incident. With the help of some K-9 units, authorities found the half-naked woman lying down in a drainage ditch. She was arrested and taken into custody and later brought to a hospital for further evaluation. All the commotion forced all activity to pause briefly. An American Airlines representative said the drama forced the airline to cancel two flights. Imagine how upset those passengers were.

“Within this time, American Airlines flight #4961 was scheduled to land at FLO but was diverted by the FAA tower back to CLT,” Florence said in a released statement. “The safety of our passengers is our number one priority and we take every measure to comply with FAA rules and regulations that are in place for their safety.”

Airport employees were shocked that something like this would even happen. “This is one for the books,” Florence Regional Airport public safety officer Lee Marsh said.
