Stuck At Home? Watch Your Favorite Musicals On BroadwayHD For Free
By Leah Freeman-Haskin
Social distancing has left many of us stuck at home and wondering how to pass the time. With no firm end date in sight, it’s time to get creative with how we spend our days, ensuring that art, culture, and inspiration are still apart of them. When browsing social media, reading news updates, and answering work emails starts to feel old (and overwhelming), consider taking in a Broadway show – without leaving your couch. From the finest productions of Shakespeare to Tony Award-winning blockbusters, theater fans may never be bored again.
BroadwayHD is now offering one free trial week to new customers, allowing you to binge-watch your favorite musicals while you dance and sing along from home. BroadwayHD is an on-demand digital streaming media company available on iOS, AppleTV, Android, Roku, and Amazon Firestick. As the company explained in a statement, “BroadwayHD was created with the goal of making high-quality theater accessible to everyone globally.”
You can browse their library of nearly 300 productions including performances of Cats, The King and I, Les Misérables, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, and Sound of Music. To help navigate their library, productions are grouped into categories from Broadway classics to foreign theater.
Once you’ve exhausted the BroadwayHD library, Digital Theater is another platform offering subscribers “exclusive, unlimited access to the world’s finest theater productions”. Although they don’t seem to currently offer a free trial week, you can rent single productions or subscribe for unlimited access for around $11.50 per month. The company works in partnership with Britain’s leading theater companies to capture live performance authentically onscreen.
After your free one-week trial ends, BroadwayHD charges $8.99 per month or $99.99 for a one-year subscription. Happy binge-watching!
