To the rest of the world, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania may be known as the originator of cheesesteak, the hometown of superstar Will Smith and the stomping ground of America’s forefathers, but for anyone who has spent real time in “The City of Brotherly Love,” Philadelphia gets even more exciting, vibrant, and beautiful the deeper you explore.

We Got You, a video series from Visit Philadelphia, celebrates Philly’s signature sights, sounds, flavors and heritage, and it does so with the help of Philly natives that know the city best.

Hosted by Tarik Trotter, better known as Black Thought of the Grammy-winning hip-hop group The Roots, We Got You gives viewers an insider’s look at Philadelphia by highlighting hidden gems, cultural landmarks and local hot spots that have shaped Philly’s past while contributing to its lively and creative Black Renaissance.

From discussing the city’s more than 3,000 public space murals with lifestyle influencer Tai Beauchamp to teaching actor Dustin Ross how to order the perfect cheesesteak at Max’s Steaks, Tarik gives viewers an intimate look at how to experience the history, music, art, food, nature and black culture that has made Philadelphia the place it is today. Throughout the series, Tarik takes Vanessa Simmons on a journey through outdoor spaces like Azalea Gardens, a park that’s more than twice the size of New York’s famed Central Park, and he guides editor Cory Townes through a home that was used as a safe haven for runaway slaves called Johnson House in the Colonial Germantown Historic District.

Whether you want to find the best stores to shop for kicks or you’re on the hunt for a bar that has great cocktails and live music, you’ll find it all in this show.
