Can You Guess Uber’s Most Visited Tourist Attraction Of 2018?

By Bianca Lambert

Long gone are the days of relying on taxis thanks to rideshare apps like Uber. Since the company operates in 600 cities across 65 countries, they have mountains of data on their passengers and where they’re going, even going as far as tracking riders up to five minutes after their ride was over — which they were called out for in 2017.

Knowing that the rideshare company is using our rides to collect data might feel a little intrusive, but it has translated into some interesting discoveries about where tourists are spending their time when they set out to see a new city — maybe even giving you a little travel inspiration for the new year. The most visited tourist attraction Uber riders visited this year is probably not going to surprise you, we’ll give you a hint, it’s in the Big Apple, but here are the top 15 tourist destinations around the world:

15. Great Pyramid of Giza

14. Christ the Redeemer

13. The Vatican

12. Berlin Wall

11. The Blue Mosque

10. Sydney Opera House

9. Golden Gate Bridge

8. Disneyland

7. Buckingham Palace

6. Burj Khalifa

5. Eiffel Tower

4. Arc de Triomphe

3. CN Tower

2. Freedom Tower

1. Empire State Building

Did you visit any of the landmarks on the list?

We told you the number one slot wasn’t going to be hard to guess. Here are a few more fun facts for you. One Uber rider took trips in more than 126 cities this year, and New York City lived it to its name as “the city that doesn’t sleep” with its citizens taking the most rides after 2 am. If you want to know how you fared this year (pun intended), Uber will be sending out emails to users with highlighting their year in review.
