Thanksgiving Travel Will Reach An All-Time High This Year
By Travel Noire
If you plan on flying to be with friends and family this Thanksgiving holiday, brace yourself. Airlines for America, a company that represents major airlines in the United States, estimates that Thanksgiving travel will be at an all-time high this year, with 28.5 million people expected to fly aboard airlines in the U.S. during the popular travel season. Thanksgiving is historically the busiest time of year for travel, with 2017’s estimate toppling last year’s 27.3 million holiday travelers.
Most of the holiday travel will occur between Friday, November 17th and Tuesday, November 28th, with more Americans choosing to fly in 2017 than in previous years. An average of 2.38 million travelers will be making their way to American airports every day during the travel period, with the Sunday after Thanksgiving being the busiest day of them all. To no surprise, travel on Thanksgiving day will be the lightest day at the airport and is often the cheapest day to fly during the hectic season.
