Southwest Airlines announced on Thursday that it’s eliminating almost 20 non-stop routes in early January 2020.

The airline clarified that the changes are a direct response to route supply and demand.

In a statement, Southwest spokesman Dan Landson said, “We are always evaluating our service patterns and performance to ensure that we are offering the right number of seats for the community based on demand from travelers.”

Travel+Leisure reports that the canceled routes include direct flights between Austin and San Francisco, Boston and Atlanta, Boston and Kansas City, Boston and Milwaukee, Columbus and Oakland, Dallas Love Field and Jacksonville, Dallas Love Field and Oklahoma City, Dallas Love Field and San Francisco, Fort Lauderdale and Jacksonville, Los Angeles and Cancun, Los Angeles and Omaha, Los Angeles and Pittsburgh, Los Angeles and Puerto Vallarta, New York LaGuardia and Orlando, Orlando and Oakland, Orlando and Sacramento, Orlando and San Jose.

The routes affected will cease service as of Jan. 6, 2020.

According to SFGate, the move will open up more planes and seats for what Southwest predicts to be more popular routes to and from Hawaii.

Travelers can still look to popular airlines like Alaska, American, and United, for the non-stop flights that Southwest dropped.
