Although Garner was quickly restrained, the security checkpoint closed for almost 2 hours.

In a prepared statement, the TSA describe the attacks as “unprovoked and brazen”.

“We are grateful for our committed workforce and for the role they play in protecting the traveling public every day,” the statement continued.

According to TSA and Phoenix police officers, Garner was booked on charges of criminal trespassing, resisting arrest and five counts of misdemeanor assault.

One TSA officer was taken to the hospital, while four others were taken to urgent care, Lorie Dankers, spokeswoman for the federal agency, said.
