Royal Caribbean Spends Millions On Cruise Ship To Get More Millennials Aboard

Royal Caribbean has spent $115 million on modernized updates to their Navigator of the Seas cruise ship.
President and CEO Michael Bayley wanted to cater to millennials that are seeking shorter travel trips.
In 2016, Priceline conducted a survey on millennial travel trends, in which they found millennials want to travel more on shorter travel trips, according to Global Travel.
The Navigator cruise ship holds about 3,800 travelers. The new updates feature a pool deck, a blow dry bar, a gang of new restaurants and adventures including the longest water slide at sea.
Thrillseekers will enjoy The Blaster, also known as the cruise line’s first-ever aqua coaster, the longest water slide at sea. It gives you that adrenaline feeling of diving into the sea, just not head first. The Navigator will also house another water slide called the Riptide, industry’s only headfirst mat racer.
One of the cruise lines most popular slides is the Perfect Storm Slide, for racing purposes.
Kids won’t miss out either, with a mini golf course, glow in the dark laser tag game and an advanced escape room called the Observatorium. The Splash Pad is for teenage travelers.
To oblige millennials and shorter trips, Royal Caribbean added three-four day quick trips from Miami to the Bahamas during the week and on weekends on the Mariner of the Seas ship.
This modernization comes as part of the much bigger redevelopment project for the Royal Caribbean, including renovation on other ships in the coming few years.
Other additions include an express Johnny Rockets, a Polynesian-themed lounge, a sports bar/arcade, Starbucks and two other new restaurants.
The big reveal will take place in February 2019.
