Drake Claims Vancouver Casino Racially Profiled Him

Messing with paying customers is always bad for business. It’s even worse when that customer is an international superstar with over 50 million Instagram followers.

Drake was in Vancouver to perform two shows at Rogers Arena this past weekend and tried to relax a little bit with an innocent night of gambling, however, the Toronto born rapper ran into a bit of a problem. Drake pulled up to the Parq Vancouver Resort in Vancouver, Canada and claims he was racially profiled. “Parq Casino @parqvancouverbc is the worst run business I have ever witnessed…profiling me and not allowing me to gamble when I had everything they originally asked me for,” Mr. OVO said in an early Saturday morning post.

The casino didn’t deny the accusation but did apologize for the incident. “You may be aware of a situation at our casino last night. On behalf of Parq Vancouver, we would like to apologize for the experience our customer had,” the five-star resort said in a statement. “We are operating in one of the most complex, highly regulated industries and are always looking to better our communication and customer service. We are constantly improving our communications process to ensure that these new regulations are better understood by all guests. We categorically stand against racism of any kind. We are committed to providing a safe, secure and enjoyable experience for all.”

Other celebrities have spoken out about being profiled before. Rapper J.Cole made a song about it called “Neighbors” telling the story of how his in-home studio was raided by the feds after neighbors called the police claiming criminal behavior. The music video for the song even showed security footage of the police raid.

This was a bad move for the resort as the Parq Vancouver is the only casino in Vancouver’s downtown space.
