Price increases are a way of life, and beginning April 2, 2018, the price to get a passport and a passport card will cost a few more dollars.

The execution fee for U.S. passport applicants using the DS-11 form, such as first-time passport applicants and those that are re-applying after having a passport lost or stolen, will increase from $25-$35. The fee increase does not apply to those that are renewing their passports by mail using the DS-82 form. With the fee increase, it will now cost adults $145 for the passport book and $65 for the card, while a child’s book and card will be $115 and $50.

The price of the passport itself is not increasing, but the price to execute the application is. The execution fee goes to designated facilities that accept passport applications on behalf of the U.S. Department of State, such as post offices, clerks of court and public libraries.
