Passenger Stuck In Airport For 4 Hours Goes Viral After Dancing The Travel Blues Away

There are so many things you can do in an airport when your flight has been delayed. Listening to podcasts, grabbing something to eat, or just people watch are just a few options. But those are so cliche. One traveler decided to do what she does best: dance.

Katie Gould found herself stuck in Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Gould was headed to Milwaukee when she discovered that she would be stranded at the airport. It wasn’t her fault.  “I actually missed my flight because security was so long,” Gould said. “I’m used to Hartsfield-Jackson security being busy, but this was more than usual for the time of day. They had less TSA agents than they normally do, so I assumed the shutdown had something to do with it.”

Frustrated, like other travelers, the law student decided to put her feelings on display. Her video went viral on Twitter, so far been retweeted over 57,000 times, as she danced to Hall & Oates’ infamous tune, “You Make My Dreams.”

“My mom is a flight attendant so I know my way around the airport very well,” Gould said. “I just spent the next 4 hours waiting on my next flight by going to different gates and dancing!” Sounds like a good time.

Dancing is not all she did. Gould even tried to floss and made friends with a random cat named Bowie, who decided to make an appearance. Dancing is the only way she knew how to keep her anxiety down, as traveling can cause a lot of unneeded stress. “I was pretty frustrated that whole day with missing my flight, but doing something fun and silly really helped remind me not to take life too seriously,” Gould said.

“I’m just glad it made so many people happy! Also, I hope it inspired people to travel a bit more and not be afraid to get out of their comfort zone, I think the world needs that right now.”
