Ho Chi Minh City in 24 Hours

By Nate Chambers

Ho Chi Minh, or as the locals say, Saigon, is such a dynamic city. Streams of motorcycles, french colonial architecture, cheap eats, and local chit chat at the Chill Bar will surely enhance your Vietnamese experience to new levels.

Normally, I try to think of ways to turn an ordinary activity into something exciting that’s worth calling back home and bragging about. Instead of grabbing a map and wondering around aimlessly, I figured what better way to create an adventure than cruising through the bustling city on the back of a vespa!

Below are the top things to do in Ho Chi Minh City with only 24 hours to spare.

Scooter Tour Through Ho Chi Minh City

District 1 is where you will spend most of your time, as this is home to most of the major sights Ho Chi Minh City has to offer. Get in and get lost.

Built by the famous Gustave Eiffel and the largest in Vietnam, the Central Post Office is among one of the most frequented sites in Ho Chi Minh City.

Become amazed at the impressive architecture of Notre Dame Cathedral, located directly across from the Central Post Office.

Step back in time during the Vietnam War and explore Reunification Palace and its rich history.

Goofing around with my little friend Khanh

Thien Hau Pagoda is Ho Chi Minh’s most active temple boasting intricate carvings from the 19th century.

Indulge at Pho Quynh, located along Pham Ngu Lao in District 1. They have the BEST noodles and beef in Ho Chi Minh. I can confidently say that as I ate at exactly 11 different noodle spots during my visit.

Take a cooking class at Saigon Culinary Arts Center. Without much hands on assistance, I prepared a delicious 4 course meal – spicy clam soup, chicken and shrimp spring rolls with sweet chili sauce, chili infused pork with white rice and fresh veggies that I hand picked from Ben Than Market.
