It’s time to find you a few reliable go-to spots in a few hand-picked neighborhoods on where to stay in the ancient city of Venice.

SAN MARCO

San Marco is the center of Venice. The San Marco estiere has a number of 5-star hotels and a share of low budget hotels too. The area has the most of Venice’s attraction but is also disadvantaged for having the hordes of people who visit to see those attractions. Hotels in the area include:

The Gritti Place

It occupies an excellent spot on the Canale Grande. It is also situated on the quieter side of San Marco giving it an extra advantage. You can board a gondola to this hotel. It is housed in a 15th-century palace and has been modified with modern technology and revamping. Features include a bar, golf course, laundry, restaurant, room service, spa, and free Wi-Fi. Laws restricting modification of historic buildings have kept the rooms small though. Double rooms start at 425 pounds. Head to: Campo S. Maria Del Giglio 2467, Venice, 30124, Italy.

Corte di Gabriela

This is a 4-star hotel with 10 rooms. It is quite hidden, 15 minutes from the St. Mark’s square. It blends the historical style into a contemporary style very well.  Features include a bar, laundry, WiFi and room service. Double rooms go for 302 Euros to 445 Euros depending on the season. Head to: San Marco 3836, Calle Degli Avvocati, Venice.

Novecento Boutique Hotel

The Novecento Boutique Hotel is well tucked in a quiet place off a busy street in St Marks. It is just a few moments away from the St. Mark’s square. It’s decorated in the 19th-century Venetian style. Services include room service, Wi-Fi and a bar. Double rooms start at 140 Euros in the low season and rise to 275 Euros in the high season. Head to: S. Marco, 2683, 30124 Venice, Italy.

CASTELLO

This neighborhood stretches from the thronging Riva Degli Schiavoni lagoon-side promenade to the echoing alleys around Palladio’s San Francesco Della Vigna. Hotels available in this neighborhood include:

Hotel Metropole

This is a 5-star hotel located on a lagoon on Riva degli Schiavoni promenade. The lagoon is quite congested though. It offers room massage services, a bar, laundry, Wi-Fi and a restaurant. The room is furnished in the art deco style with antiques from the East. Double rooms go for 225 Euros in low season to 885 Euros in high season. Head to the Riva Degli Schiavoni promenade.

Residenza De L’Osmarin

It’s close to the St. Mark Square but a decent distant enough to make it quiet and serene. From the hotel, you can have awesome views of gondolas floating the Grand Canal. The rooms are comparatively large for Venice. Head to: Castello 4960, Venice, 30121, Italy.

Hotel Bucintoro

It is located on the crowded Riva Lagoon. Its alleyway offers some of Venice’s best restaurant. Prices start at 128 Euros in low season to 255 Euros in high season.

Head to:  Castello 2135A, Riva San Biasio, Venice, Italy.
