Frontier Airlines Unveils ‘Kids Fly Free’ Program — But There’s A Catch

Frontier Airlines is trying to make traveling with a family more affordable by allowing children to fly free with an adult.

“We aren’t just talking about the small enough to sit on your lap kids,” a statement reads on the company’s website. “We’re including the tall enough to ride the big rides kids, the ‘mom, I’m not a baby any more kids, or the ‘oh-my-gosh they’re almost driving kids.’ ”

Children 14 years and under will be eligible through the “Kid Fly Free” promotion Frontier is offering.

To qualify, travelers will have to purchase the airlines’ yearly $60 “Discount Den” membership. From there, travelers can choose from a list of selected flights.

As long as an adult seat, (15 years or older) is purchased, kids will be permitted to fly free on domestic flights that do not require overnight connections on certain dates.

According to Frontier, the following dates are valid for this promotion are:

February – 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, 27

March – 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, 27

April – 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24, 30

May – 1, 4, 7, 8, 11, 14, 15, 18, 21, 22, 29

June – 1, 4, 5, 8, 11, 12, 18, 19, 25, 26

July – 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, 30

August – 5, 6

Some deals can appear to be too good to be true. So what’s the catch?

To start, besides a handful of dates, there are other limitations with this program.  The free seats for children do not include bags, seat selections, and other add-on amenities. Another restriction is that kids flying through the program do not earn Frontier miles and international flights are not included.

In addition, travelers cannot combine other offers with this promotion, the program is only valid through the initial booking. Changes to the reservation will result in forfeiting the Kids Fly Free promotion.

With the Discount Den membership, however, travelers will unlock other benefits. Members will be able to access the low fares for up to six people on their reservation and will be added to the airlines’ list of travel deals.

If you’re interested in the “Kids Fly Free” promotion, you only have until Feb. 12 to purchase tickets.
