Fresh Fest: The Country’s Black-Owned Beer Festival Is Back This August
By DeAnna Taylor
Sometimes, in order to bring more visibility to Black-owned brands, we have to create our own spaces to showcase them. That was the inspiration behind Fresh Fest, a festival held in Pennsylvania that aims to put Black-owned beer brands in the spotlight.
This year will mark the third installment of the event that is slated to take place on August 8 in Allentown. Each year the festival has only gotten bigger and better. Year one saw right around 1200 attendees, while year two brought in more than double that with around 2500.
“On a national level, Fresh Fest is all about shedding light on people of color in the craft beer industry and exposing their talents and brands to a broader audience,” Mike Potter said in an interview with Thrillist.
Tickets officially go on sale February 1 at midnight. Prices generally start at around $45 for general admission, although official pricing has not been released. There will also be a special VIP ticket that will allow attendees to meet the brewers being featured.
