Atlanta’s FreakNik is coming back this summer with a new name and concept.

More than 40 artists will be performing live for three days straight in southwest Atlanta for Freak World.

This year’s festival will run from June 19-21 and will be held at the Cascade Driving Range.

Last summer, Carlos Neal, of Atlanta-based promotion company After 9, re-launched the popular block party from the 80s and 90s  with a daylong concert at Cellairis Amphitheatre at Lakewood.

Last year’s lineup was a nostalgic event for those old enough to remember Freaknik. The event featured music artists Project Pat, Uncle Luke, Da Brat, Foxy Brown, and more.

“I wanted to do it in a community where people embraced this event. I chose the community where I grew up because I wanted the dollars to impact that community,” he told WSBTV. “I wanted to do it in a predominately African American neighborhood.”

Neal said he plans to have more than 100 vendors and schedule approximately 60 acts during the three-day event, which said the event will cap at about 10,000 fans per day.

Several thousand parking spaces will be available among the driving range site and the parking lots of nearby Changing a Generation Full Gospel Baptist Church and Greenbriar Mall.
