When Travel Commercials Didn’t Cater To Black People, This Blogger Created Her Own

Lifestyle and travel blogger Francesca M of One Girl One World knows the value of imagery and how important it is to see people who look like you in advertisements. However, in the travel world, seldom do you see people of color used in commercials for hotels, resorts, and romantic getaways when it’s clear Black people travel too.

While studying commercials enticing couples to visit the Caribbean, Francesca noticed that not only did all of the commercials look the same, they lacked Black couples. Because of that, she decided to create her own travel-themed video.

“Rather than calling brands out or begging them to work with me, I decided to go ahead and create the commercial I always wished to see,” said Francesca. “The goal is to continue to show that representation matters.”
