As we embark on a new year, it’s time to sweep that dust off your passport.  If traveling more is one of your New Year’s resolutions, then kick off 2019 with a trip to Cartagena, Colombia.

Cartagena is a vibrant city decorated with modern architecture, beautiful beaches, and a ton of culture and history to explore.

During your trip,  be sure to plan a visit to The Walls of Cartagena. The walls were built to defend the city from possible pirate attacks, according to Visit Colombia.

The historic center is surrounded by seven miles of stone walls from which you can watch the sunset over the Caribbean Sea.

Here’s how to explore Cartagena for as low as $250 round-trip:

From Miami:

Flights to Cartagena from Miami are among the cheapest, according to Google Flights.  Both American and Avianca Airlines have nonstop flights for as low as $251 round-trip from Mar. 4 through Mar. 12.

From Chicago:

Spirit Airlines has a trip to Cartagena for $270 round-trip, according to Google Flights.  Travel dates are from Feb. 24 through Mar. 5. The only downside to this flight is Spirit does not include baggage, so be sure to prepare ahead and buy your bags before your flight.

From New York:

There are two options available from New York that will have you in Cartagena for nine-days for less than $320 round-trip.

The flight from Newark Airport is the cheapest at $301 and the flight from La Guardia will cost $315. Both, however, include a short layover in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Plug in Feb. 10 through Feb. 19 for the cheapest option.

From Los Angeles:
