United Airlines and its affiliates have reduced fares to Rome, Italy through its Basic Economy fare. Prices can be found for as low as $327 round-trip departing from the New York area.
Dates span from November through April of 2019. Low priced fares can also be found departing from Los Angeles. Use Google Flights to find the flight that is best for you.
Rome is the capital city of Italy and is the fourth most populated city in the European Union. (E.U.) The city is a mixture of piazzas, open-air markets, and beautiful historic sites.
The Colosseum, located in the Eastern part of the city, was once used for gladiator contests as well as other public spectacles. It could hold between 50,000 and 80,000 spectators. Today, it still stands as although damaged from an earthquakes and stone-robbers.
Another must-see attraction in Rome is The Vatican. Located in Vatican City, it is the headquarters of the Catholic Church and home to the Pope. The highlight of The Vatican is Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel. If you plan to tour the inside, be sure to get there early because the lines can get very long.
Plan to visit the Pantheon, which is the burial place of Rome’s kings and other prominent figures.
Make your way to Piazza Novana. Known as one of Rome’s most popular public spaces, The area is filled with restaurants, gelaterias, souvenir shops, and the Museo di Roma.
The food scene in Rome is one that cannot be missed. Try Espresso at two of Rome’s most popular cafes: Tazza d’Oro and Ceffe Sant’Eustachio.
Grab a scoop, or two, of gelato at one of the many gelaterias around the city. Of course, you can’t go to Italy without eating all the pasta your stomach can handle. Be sure to wash it down with some of the World’s best wines.
