As Paris enters its low season for tourism from January to March, now is the time to explore this global city for art, history and fashion.

Visiting the Eiffel Tower and experiencing the Louvre Museum is often at the top of tourists’ to do list but you should make it a point to explore some of the city’s other hidden gems.

The city of Paris is divided into 20 Arrondissements, or districts, and each one presents a different culture.

In the 7th Arrondissement is where you will find the Eiffel Tower and Champs-Élysées is the 8th Arrondissement, but if you’re looking for a black experience then your first stop should be with Julia Browne, founder of Walking The Spirit Tours: The Original Tours of Black Paris.

From black images in the Louvre to exploring the entertainers in the 1920s, Browne accompanies her guests with a guided walking tour to learn about the contributions of blacks in Paris and France.

After your tour, head over to “Little Africa” in the 18th Arrondissement and end your day at Gumbo Yaya Southern Kitchen to try their infamous chicken and waffles.
