You can find cheap fares from New York starting at around $250, from Los Angeles for $331, and from Atlanta for around $350. Other cities include Boston, Miami, Nashville, Seattle, and San Francisco. Each departure city has different dates but the majority are from late November through March.

Zagreb is Croatia’s capital city located in the Northwest region of the country. It is distinguished by its 18th- and 19th-century Austro-Hungarian architecture. The city of Zagreb is mainly divided into two parts Gornji grad (Upper Town) and Donji grad (Lower Town). They are the cultural, religious, and commercial hubs of Zagreb. These are where most of the restaurants, bars and tourist sights are located.

At its center, Upper Town is the site of the Gothic, twin-spired Zagreb Cathedral and 13th-century St. Mark’s Church, with a colorfully tiled roofCheck out pedestrian-friendly Tkalčićeva Street, lined with outdoor cafes. Lower Town has the main square, Ban Jelačić, plus shops, museums and parks.

The city boasts a charming medieval ‘old city’ with architecture and cobbled streets reminiscent of ViennaBudapestPragueand other Central-European capitals. There is also an all-year-round overnight train (with sleeping compartments) between Zagreb and Split which takes about 6 hours. Surprisingly a bus ride to Split will only take 5 hours.
