Sancocho

Mangú (Plantain Mash)

This is the type of traditional food that you can only find in Santo Domingo. It consists of mashed plantain, and it is usually served with eggs, salami and Queso Frito which is another name for fried cheese. When served together like this, the combination is also known as three strikes which will strike your mouth with a new and exciting taste.

Arroz Blanco (white rice)

However, arroz blanco is the most famous rice meals that you are most likely to find in local hotels. It consists of stewed beans, braised chicken or beef, white rice, and salad. Habichuelas Guisadas (stewed bean)

An enticing meal composed of protein-rich beans is another common food in Santo Domingo. Usually, stewed beans are served with rice dishes but can also be served lone as the main course. The aromatic and tasty ingredients used to prepare this dish make it one healthy meal full of vital nutritional benefits. You should also know that when preparing this meal, the cook has freedom of playing around with different ingredients types to come up with a unique and tasty meal.

Ensalada Verde (green salad)

Such a fancy name for salad must mean that there is something unique about it. Green salad in Santo Domingo can be prepared in different ways to offer you a delightful taste. The salad is a combination of onions, cucumber, bell pepper, tomatoes, radish, and boiled beets. The base can be anything between lettuce and shredded cabbage.
