The incredible Santiago city has so much to offer when it comes to being a growing tourist’s attraction. With some of the most ancient landmarks commemorating an important historical occurrence, you should now that there is always something for someone to discover when here. While touring this marvelous city, there are some significant historical attractions that you might not want to leave without checking off your list.

Plaza de Armas

This is one place that is concentrated with so many historical monuments. Being one of the major attractions for both locals and visitors, Plaza de Armas is an excellent place to enjoy a different atmosphere while viewing some of the oldest statues in history. Some of the famous things that you are most likely to see here include the royal court palace, the metropolitan cathedral, the central post office, and more.

Cerro San Cristóbal

Located exactly at the center of Santiago, this place a 300-meter high summit with a 22meter tall statue standing tall right on top of the peak. A visit high up in this place will give you a very stunning aerial view of Santiago. Additionally, the Virgin Mary’s statute standing tall on the summit is one of the main tourists’ attractions in Santiago. You can access the top of the peak by cycling or taking a 45 minutes hike.

The Markets

While visiting all the beautiful places and enjoying the view can be refreshing, it is good to know that shopping is another activity that attracts tourists to Santiago. Being a big place with mixed cultures, there are so many beautiful things that you can buy in the local markets for souvenir or gifts. The reason why you would want to shop for souvenirs and gifts in local markets is that you have a good chance of finding something unique and hand made by locals.

Museum of pre-Colombian art

This is the perfect place to give your brain a little chance to absorb something about Colombian’s history. In this museum, ancient artworks belonging to some of the famous Colombian artists are preserved. The museum also has some of the historical evidence of the revolution of Santiago from a time when it was just another small town.

The Presidential Palace

Being one of the oldest existing political structures in Santiago, the presidential palace is a historical monument that has blended well with the modern world. Its incredible design is good evidence of some of the best architectural work ever done in the past.

As much as you may want to have the best moment visiting will give you all the best things to see, you should never forget to try and mix with the locals to find out more about this excellent place. With such a rich past, you can only expect some of the most delicious local and traditional food in Santiago. To get the best of what this city has to offer, you should make sure that you try out some of the typical food.
