This Travel Couple Recommends Vacationing In Your Own Backyard

Kiera and Khalil are frequent Caribbean travelers. Part of the reason is the fact that both parties have family members back in their home of Jamaica and, the other reason is that they love the sun and beach.

The couple has been dating for five years, and as Khalil approached his milestone birthday of 21, he wanted a trip that would make him “feel young again,” Kiera said jokingly.

After a week-stay at Universal Studios, Kiera and Khalil found Universal Studios to be one of the best trips that they’ve taken so far.

Travel Noire caught up with Kiera and Khalil how a couples trip in their own backyard has opened the door for double dates overseas.

Travel Noire: What surprised you the most about your trip to Universal Studios?

Kiera and Khalil: Just how romantic it was and how much fun we had together. We laughed so much during that trip. We always have a good time but I don’t think we would’ve had this much fun if we would’ve chosen anywhere else. We didn’t expect to get so much thrill out of Universal Studios.

Travel Noire: You mentioned romance. Explain what that looks like for our readers.

Kiera and Khalil: Well, people think that Universal is only for people with children but that’s not true. Honestly, that was surprising as well. One of our highlights on the trip was hanging out on CityWalk where there are tons of places to have a candlelight dinner. We think one thing that makes Universal Studios stand out as a great place for a baecation is, on one hand, you can enjoy an adventure on the rides or the water park, and on the other hand, you can switch it up and slow the pace to enjoy each other’s company.

Travel Noire: Overall, what was a key takeaway from your trip that can inspire other traveling couples?

Don’t think you have to travel somewhere far and exotic to have fun. We met so many from all over the world, including Brazil, Japan, and Spain, and it made us realize that sometimes you have to appreciate what’s in your own backyard.

Meeting friends along the way means that we now have to plan double dates in other countries. We didn’t think Universal Studios would lead to planning a visit to other vacations to meet with friends.
