Wash Away The Retrograde At Brazil’s Crystal Beauty Display In Downtown LA

Mercury Retrograde got you down? LA residents can now give themselves a thorough crystal cleansing at Rhythm Visual Gallery’s latest exhibition titled Crystalline: Brazil’s Crystal Giants.

The gallery has transported massive gem specimens from the South American country, with multiple pieces weighing in at over 1,000 pounds.

Some of the remarkable crystals on display include the world’s largest citrine sphere which bears the name Sol, a 1,600-pound Lemurian Quartz cluster called Skyline from the Northeastern state of Bahia, a hollowed bowl of Agate Amethyst Stalactite piece from Rio Grande Du Sol that functions like a bathtub, and a nearly 2,000-pound amethyst throne that guests are invited to take a seat upon.

The exhibit comes courtesy of curator Steven Bookbinder, who has been in the crystal mineral industry for over 40 years and worked tirelessly to ensure that these towering crystal clusters were ethically mined.

Bookbinder told We Like L.A. that, “We envisioned this exhibit as a gift that we want to give to the people here in Los Angeles. It’s a gift from the heart that we brought here for people to see some incredible things that they might not have an opportunity to see otherwise.”

Guests will feel as though they’ve been transported to the exotic jungles of the Amazon as Brazilian music scores their browsing. Everything in the gallery is for sale, including crystal balls, hearts, points, and skulls made by the gallery as well as the enormous pieces. You’ll likely need to hire movers if you’re thinking of investing in a crystalline bathtub or throne.

CRYSTALLINE: Brazil’s Crystal Giants is open to the public as of July 16. The gallery’s open hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. A closing party will be held on July 27 from noon to 6 p.m.
