5 Black Chefs To Follow On Instagram

By Shontel Horne

Instagram has no shortage of inspiring food accounts to follow on the social media platform, but few can tell the story behind certain dishes better than the chef that created it. If you want to get a daily dose of culinary inspiration while also learning about the dishes on a deeper level, these are the black chefs you’ll want to follow on IG.

Nma may call herself the “Nigerian Lazy Chef,” but her impeccable food images of traditional African dishes and her own original recipes concepts are thoughtful and inspiring. You can find some of the recipes on her blog as well.

Chef Day is the real deal, and her Instagram, website DineWithDay.com and pop-up brunch series prove that the Haitian-born chef takes food seriously. Her recipes reflect both her Caribbean heritage and her French and Italian culinary training, so follow her for the ultimate fusion food inspo. Her account is private, but it’s worth the follow request.

Giovanni Meyer is a classically trained chef and it shows. He has a blog called PinchOfBlackSalt.com where he talks about the inspiration behind his decadent recipes, and excels and approaching food from an inventive, unconventional point of view. His food photos also so flawless that they look they should be in a magazine.

Born and raised in Kenya, Kaluhi is one of the most popular chefs in both Africa and beyond thanks to her beautiful feed and her food blog where she shares her recipes for dishes like Achari Mushroom Farfelle Pasta and Chili Rosemary Chicken Mshikaki with Zesty Dania Dip. Kaluhi has some serious talent for such a young chef, and her recipes are simple and delicious.

The duo behind African Chow is a favorite of Travel Noire. Their recipes for authentic African dishes have been featured on the site before, but they’re also not shy about having fun with food and creating dishes like Jollof rice sushi.
