Babaafrik (Online)

Designer Briana Wilson launched MATTE with must-have basics inspired by minimal designs, femininity, and comfort. Their new Caution collection debuted at New York Fashion Week earlier this year.

Mint Swim (Los Angeles)

Entrepreneur and fashion designer Draya Michele created her Mint Swim swimsuit line in 2011 and designed it with every womanly shape and size in mind. You’ve seen her on the gram. Her swimsuits fit like a glove. Draya also has two other fashion brands, Beige and Coco and Fine Ass Girls.

Meow and Barks Boutique (Jacksonville, FL)

This boutique features bold statement blouses, ombre skirts, and cute jumpsuits personally curated by celebrity stylist Traci Evans. Past collections were inspired by the culture in Cuba and the United Arab Emirates. The clothes are catered to the curviness of black women. NAKIMULI (Brooklyn, NY)

Cultivated by color, shapes, and prints, NAKIMULI has been worn by Jill Scott, Danielle Brooks, Jasmine Sullivan, and Erykah Badu to name a few. Their clothes embrace self-love, sisterhood, individuality, comfort, and lots of fierceness. Owner Tennille McMillan taught herself to sew at a young age, fast forward to 2009, when she established NAKIMULI, with a feminine aesthetic still being worn today.

Nroda Eyewear (New York, NY)

Shop Nroda’s luxury 24k gold plated hand-designed eyewear, previously worn by Rick Ross on Fox’s recently-canceled television series Star. Slashed By Tia (New York, NY)

Nigerian-born owner and soon to be college graduate Teni “Tia” Adeola started Slashed by Tia from her dorm room. She gained massive attention for her ruffled clothing which was partially inspired by art history and 16th-century Renaissance paintings she studied while living in London. Her performance at New York Fashion Week last year received rave reviews for her sheer tops and luxury bottoms. Teen Vogue claimed her as being “one of the greatest female couture designers in the world.”

Sorella Boutique (Los Angeles, CA)

Fashion Stylist Olori Swank held a pop-up shop in Atlanta for her LA-based Fashion brand Swank Blue recently. It was an interactive shopping experience that I definitely enjoyed myself. It included wine, food, shopping, adult coloring, and fun. I snagged myself a couple of goodies a picture with Olori all just before finding out her favorite color wasn’t actually blue.
