Expedia has predicted that the cheapest airfares for Thanksgiving travel will be available between October 29 and November 13. Booking two weeks to a month in advance of Thanksgiving can save travelers more than 5 percent. But there is a fine line because if you wait too last minute, you can expect to pay more than 20 percent above the average rate.
For Christmas or other December holiday travel, the cheapest time to purchase flights will be between November 23 and December 9, Expedia reported. If you are able to book during that time, expect to find around 15 percent in savings.
If you are holding out on buying your tickets because you don’t currently have all of the money to make the purchase, then check out Airfordable. Airfordable.com is a black-owned travel booking site that allows you to book your flights in advance and pay the balance in installments. This way, you can grab that early-bird price even if you don’t have all of the funds currently on hand. You will pay a small amount upfront and your ticket will be sent to you once you complete your last payment before your departure date. Members of Travel Noire Plus, Travel Noire’s member’s only service, can get $25 off their first booking with Airfordable, thus making your holiday travel even cheaper.
There are many factors that contribute to the rise and fall of online travel prices. No matter how you plan on buying your tickets, it is highly recommended that you set up price alerts through search engines like Google Flights and Expedia so you don’t miss out on the best rate.
