Despite being known for deep-dish pizzas, that many locals haven’t even tried, and hot dogs, there is so much more to Chicago’s culinary scene.

In fact, Chicago was ranked as the best city for having it all by Time Out’s City Life index. Analysts from the survey found that the average Chicagoan eats out almost once a week and that 35 percent of respondents said they would wait over an hour for a table.

During your next trip to Chicago, make sure that wind blows you to a black-owned restaurant. Here are some of the best:

Peach’s Restaurant

Named after that one relative that [almost] every African American family has, Peach’s Restaurant offers Southern staples for breakfast and lunch.

Happy National Cheeseburger Day! There are lots of ways to celebrate the day at @soulveg. First, there is our Blackeyed Pea Burger (the one in this picture) topped with onion rings and our housemade soy cheese. Also our Handburger, made with lentils and topped with the works. Or check out our famous Garvey Burger, a delicious TVP patty topped with grilled onions, mushrooms, and, of course, our soy cheese. We also have several other burger-like sandwiches including our popular Italian V, our Breaded Tofu Sandwich, our Spicy Chick'n and our Sloppy Joe. That's enough to celebrate National Cheeseburger Day every day of the week! #cheeseburger #nationalcheeseburgerday #soulveg #soulvegetarian #originalsoulvegetarian
