You’ve probably seen the Instagram photos of people eating breakfast in their hotel while giraffes peek their heads through a window looking for a morning treat. There is something about the gentle, incredible nature of giraffes that many people are drawn to, and Giraffe Manor allows you the chance to get up close and personal with these majestic creatures.

Giraffe Manor is owned by The Safari Collection and is an exclusive boutique hotel, set in 12 acres of private land within 140 acres of indigenous forest in the Langata suburb of Nairobi, Kenya. The hotel itself is elegant and charming with gardens, courtyards, and terraces inviting guests to indulge in nature. However, the most fascinating thing about Giraffe Manor is its herd of resident Rothschild’s giraffes who may visit morning and evening, sometimes poking their long necks into the windows of your hotel room.

If this sounds like your idea of paradise, here are some things to keep in mind.

When To Go

Giraffe Manor is a great place to visit any time of year. However, Kenya does have a rainy season and if you plan on exploring other parts of the country, it’s best to visit in October when there is little to no rainfall. The high season is July to November and January and February, with the most rainfall happening March through May.  It’s important to note, that the high season is also when you can expect to have the most crowds, higher rates for airfare and accommodations, and longer wait times at major attractions.

Cost & What’s Included

Their 2019 rates and special offers include a range of nightly prices from $620 to $2,700 depending on the size of your room or suite. These rates include arrival and departure transfers, all meals and drinks, laundry, wireless internet access, and entrance to the AFEW Giraffe Centre.

What Else To Do

Although feeding giraffes from your breakfast table may seem like enough, there are other activities to keep you busy during your stay.  You can adopt and meet baby elephants at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, discover the history of European settlers at the Karen Blixen and Nairobi Museums, and take a guided walk in the Giraffe Manor sanctuary.
