7 Of The Best Bars In Lisbon, Portugal

When you’re planning your next trip to Europe, you might want to set your sights on the coastal city of Lisbon. The hilly town is known for being one of Europe’s most budget-friendly destinations — where you can enjoy great food, luxe accommodations, and unique bars serving up cocktails and some of the best wine in the country. Here are seven bars you won’t want to miss.

A Ginjinha

You can’t stop in Lisbon, and not give their famous cherry liqueur a try. While A Ginjinha is somewhat of a tourist attraction, the service is swift — and with over 1,100 Tripadvisor reviews it will be worth stopping by for a little shot with a cherry at the end.

Red Frog

Nothing like a bar with a theme and the Red Frog doesn’t disappoint. To enter, you must ring the ‘Press for Cocktails’ bell. If you find yourself unable to find the speakeasy, lookout for the red frog on the wall next to the door since there is no signage. The inconspicuous watering hole doesn’t offer food so be sure to have a meal before you arrive.

Cinco Lounge

Founded by master mixologist Dave Palethorpe, Cinco Lounge brings the knowledge and exceptional service to its incredible drink menu. The Lemonberry and Hakka are two of the most popular drinks on the menu, but if you want something that isn’t on the list — the bartenders are happy to whip up a beverage of your choice with a Cinco Lounge flair.

BA Wine Bar do Bairro Alto

This popular wine bar comes highly recommended by locals and tourists. Before you make BA Wine Bar your go-to choice for a night out, you must make reservations as the small restaurant is always bustling. Once you select your wine, don’t forget to pair your wine with the house tábuas (charcuterie and cheese boards).

The Old Pharmacy

History lovers will enjoy the historical value of this beloved bar. The 100-year-old pharmacy now fills its shelves with wine and its customer’s palates with tapas and yummy cheese plates.

Pavilhão Chinês

If you’re a person that lives for a bar with eccentric style, you won’t want to miss a visit to this grocery store turned bar. Artifacts from the World Wars, model airplanes, and other trinkets fill the space while traditional cocktails remain the go-to.

Sky Bar

We couldn’t craft this list without showcasing a classic rooftop bar. Live music, cocktails, and beautiful sunsets make this rooftop bar the ideal stop for bar-goers that want to have it all.
