Reporter Captures Video Of What Seems To Be The Longest Airport Security Line Ever

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is one of the busiest airports in the United States. With close to 300,000 passengers daily, it is common for the security line to get backed up.

Thanks to this partial government shutdown, however, things have gotten really bad. A CNN reporter just happened to be inside the Atlanta airport and took a video of what seemed to be the longest security line in history. Take a look.

People waiting for hours and hours at a time to get to their gate is ridiculous. Omar Jimenez’ tweet made the rounds, citing responses from many different people. Other journalists were shocked by the line while fellow travelers chimed in with their reaction and how they would handle a situation like this.

Since the shocking video was posted, the Atlanta airport has made a statement explaining why the lines are so outrageously long. “While Mondays are always busy they are down security lanes because of the government shutdown. Short staffing + Monday morning = unfortunately, this, but the lines are moving,” they said. Another CNN reporter said he thinks the security backups will really affect business travelers the most.

From the looks of things, videos like these are going to continue to circulate as airports across the country struggle to get TSA workers to come into work. Since they are not getting paid, TSA callouts have been sky high. Numerous reports of concourse closings at different airports like Miami International and Houston continue to come in.
