By Leah Freeman-Haskin
Those in their thirties can admit, that they are not the same person they were when they were in their twenties. The same goes toward people in their forties in regards to their thirties. Each decade brings a new set of challenges, failures, and successes that shape who we are and who we want to become. Your choice of travel often reflects where you are in your life and what kinds of experiences you are seeking. Here are a few destinations for solo trips that suit you through your 20’s, 30’s, and 40’s.
In Your 20’s
In your twenties, the party is still going strong. Nightlife and festivals are where you’re heading, but the budget is still a concern. Check out Southeast Asia, Central America, and Eastern Europe for renowned nightlife scenes that won’t break your travel bank. From Rio Carnival to Berlin’s eclectic nightlife scene, there is no shortage of parties across the world to experience.
Remember to travel safely when partying and exploring new places abroad. Tours and cruises are a great way to travel solo with the security of a large group, and it’s also a great way to meet new people.
In Your 30’s
In your thirties, you may not be quite ready to slow things down completely, but the thought of club-hopping until 6 in the morning certainly sounds more exhausting than it’s worth. This is the perfect decade to get your body moving through adventure-packed vacations. Think scuba diving in the Caribbean, zip-lining through the Costa Rican rain forest, hiking a volcano in Bali, or taking an African Safari ride.
These adventure vacations may take a bit more planning and organization which is also why they are much better suited for this decade. Solo adventure vacations are also a great time to overcome personal fears, push through comfort zones, and come out stronger on the other side.
In Your 40’s
At this point in your life, you may be looking to slow things down a bit more and a cultural getaway could be just the thing. A relaxed vacation that involves culinary tours and wandering through museums allows you to spend time learning about the culture of a place without rushing to see and do everything at once. London, Paris, Mumbai, and Marrakech are all great options to explore the culture and history of a vibrant foreign city.
