Here are 13 Best day trips from New York just a few hours away.

Washington, D.C.

Aside from its heavy political persona, D.C. is a melting pot of historic culture, music, and food.

Empire State Building

Explore the innovative experience and breathtaking views of the Big Apple from the Empire State building.


Governor’s Island

Ride the ferry to Governor’s Island for some zip lining, rock climbing, kayaking, and other adventurous outdoor activities.

Philadelphia, PA

You can’t go to Philly without getting one of their famous Philly cheesesteak sandwiches. Popular attractions include the new Will Smith portrait and the Rocky steps at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Cape May, NJ

Watch the dolphins and whales at this seaside resort is known for its Victorian-esque homes. Watch boats and yachts sail away from The Schooner American, an outdoor cocktail lounge at The Lobster House restaurant.

Atlantic City, NJ
