10 Travel Apps You Should Download Before Your Next Trip

By The Traveling Fro

Technology has taken a lot of stress out of traveling, with travel apps virtually changing how we experience the world around us. These are just a few of the apps I have used while traveling the world, and hopefully, they will help you, too!

Travel Apps For Accommodations

1. HotelTonight

When you need to book a hotel last minute, like tonight last minute, this app actually gives discounts the longer you procrastinate. Other apps I use for accommodations include:

2. Hostelworld

3. Booking

4. Airbnb

Travel Apps For Navigation

Google apps, even on airplane mode, will track where you are with the little blue dot, and even show you which direction you are going. However, if you need actual step-by-step directions but have no Wi-Fi, MAPS.ME will come in handy. You just need to download the city you will be in beforehand.

6. Rome2rio

Figure out how to get anywhere, any way possible! This app will compare every route option available (boat, train, plane, ferry) to get you where you need to go.

7. BlaBlaCar

This is clutch in Europe. It’s pretty much a way of formal hitchhiking, but don’t worry, it’s safe. I used it to go from Portugal to Spain (2 hrs.), and Seville, Spain to Tarifa, Spain (3 hrs.) and both were less than 13 Euros. That is half the cost of a bus and you get to meet cool travelers along the way.

Travel Apps For Communication

8. Google Translate (offline)

I mean, because I don’t speak 10 languages. I don’t know about you.

Travel Apps For Organization

9. Mobile Passport

Don’t be lazy, get this NOW. Skip the crazy line when coming back into customs in the U.S.

10. Vaccine Records

If you are traveling to countries where you need vaccines, this app will definitely make your life easier. I have a hard time keeping up with which shots I have received and which shots I need, and this helped me track them all in one place because notes weren’t cuttin’ it anymore.
