TSA PreCheck can save a lot of hassle for travelers. If you travel by air frequently or with children, the benefit of shorter security lines, keeping your shoes on during screenings, and not having to remove certain items from your luggage including laptops, can save you a lot of time and stress while traveling.

You can easily apply for the program online. After paying an $85 fee and having an in-person interview that includes a background check, you are issued a Known Traveler Number (KTN) that allows you expedited security screenings at more than 200 airports in the United States. Once enrolled, you will have to enter your KTN every time you purchase a flight and you should also make sure the TSA PreCheck logo is on your printed or digital ticket before heading to the security screening line.

Initially, TSA PreCheck was pretty limited to only major US airlines. Over the past couple of years, this list has grown considerably. On Thursday, nine more airlines were added to that list:

  • Air India
  • Asiana Airlines
  • China Airlines
  • Eastern Airlines
  • Elite Airways
  • EVA Air
