This New Travel Feature Helps Long-Distance Lovers Plan A ‘Rendezvous’

Kayak.com has come up with the perfect solution for long-distance travel lovers who want to spend time with each other for Valentine’s Day.

The travel platform launched Rendezvous, a tool to help lovers in different places find the most inexpensive place to meet. Here’s how it works. First, travelers enter the cities they are leaving from and the dates they want to travel. Kayak will enter the two cities of departure and your desired dates of travel. Then, Kayak calculates the most affordable city where the lovebirds can meet up, of course, determined by the lowest cost of airfare.

Kayak’s vice president of marketing David Solomito thinks that Rendezvous is great for not only bringing people together who haven’t seen each other in a long time but it also gives travelers a way of exploring new places. “Whether you’re a couple in a long distance relationship or two friends living in different cities looking for a weekend escape, you’ve likely visited the others’ home city more times than you can count,” Solomito said. “Knowing that Valentine’s Day weekend is the second most popular travel weekend of Q1, we wanted to make it easier for those separated from their friends and loved ones to not only find an affordable destination to meet in the middle but also explore a new one.”

The new platform isn’t just for couples; it could be for friends too.

Kayak is known for adding to features to the site to help their customers. One feature shows travelers how to find hidden bag fees, so you don’t get caught by surprise. Another helps employees that need some time away from the office. It lets passengers secretly plan a vacation while at the office with a tool that makes it look like you’re still working. Pretty cool huh?
