Kyran Ashford Turns The Tarmac Into A Dance Floor

No one has more fun at work than Kyran Ashford, aka., the “Tarmac Dancer.”

In October, Terry McBride was on a Southwest flight leaving New York on the way to Nashville when he saw Ashford directing the plane while also busting some slick moves. McBride quickly recorded Ashford, posted the video to his Facebook page, and the video, which now has more than 12 million views, became an overnight sensation.

Ashford, who works for JetStream Ground Services at the Greater Rochester International Airport in New York, is no stranger to going the extra mile while at work. In an interview with the Democrat & Chronicle, Ashford shared that he often sings, dances and raps while performing normally mundane duties like providing boarding instructions to passengers, all as a way to ease the often stressful travel process for customers.

“If I can just make somebody, at least one person, smile and turn their day around, then I am good. I did my job” Ashford said.

Ashford added “Wherever you are in life, just grab a positive message. It doesn’t matter where you’re working or what you’re doing. You’re in control of your day.”
