JetBlue Airlines will now be flying to an under-the-radar Caribbean destination — Guadeloupe.

There will now be a nonstop seasonal winter route from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Guadeloupe’s Pointe-à-Pitre International Airport (PTP).

It was announced by JetBlue on June 27th that this three times weekly route is projected to launch in February 2020.

JetBlue is the only airline with definite routes scheduled to fly nonstop between JFK and PTP.

Andrea Lusso, director of route planning at JetBlue says, “with it’s combination of French flair and Caribbean coolness, Guadeloupe will offer our customers and all-new and exciting destination to escape this winter.”

She went on to say, “we continue to build our New York focus city strategy and by adding another unique destination we reinforce our position in the Caribbean, where JetBlue continues to serve more nonstop destinations from JFK than any other carrier.”

Guadeloupe is located only four and a half hours from New York by air and is made up of two major islands — Basse-Terre and Grande Terre, which are both separated by the la Rivière Salée river and surrounded by smaller islands.

Many people consider Guadeloupe to be one of the best-kept secrets in the Caribbean and with good reason. Tourists can find everything here from extraordinary culinary experiences, architecture and shopping to hiking, wellness and relaxation.

You can hike through the rainforest, walk through a coffee trail, explore a sugar cane field and more.

Guadeloupe Islands Tourist Board President, Ary Chalus says, “these are exciting times for our destination. JetBlue is the perfect match for the Guadeloupe Islands and we could not be more thrilled about the new service. New York, JFK is our most successful gateway and it’s a privilege to have been picked by an airline so close to New Yorker’s hearts.”

Seats will begin going on sale in the coming weeks.
